The Morning Mouse Chase

It started in the kitchen. A flash of grey behind the refrigerator. My whiskers twitched. My pupils dilated. The hunt was on.

08:15 AM: Initial sighting. The target was small, fuzzy, and smelled faintly of catnip. 08:20 AM: The pounce. I launched from behind the trash can. Target moved to the dining room at high speed. 08:25 AM: Cornered under the sideboard. I attempted a delicate paw swipe, but the mouse retreated into the gap between the floorboards and the wall.

After ten minutes of patient waiting, the mouse reappeared. It was a fierce struggle, involving at least three somersaults and a very loud crash when I knocked over the umbrella stand.

In the end, victory was mine. The mouse is now safely stashed under the sofa, where it shall remain until my next bout of energy.
